Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam Bulbul has announced his candidacy for the board’s upcoming director election. He made the declaration on Tuesday (September 2) after inspecting the Sylhet District Stadium.
Bulbul said he is eager to continue serving the country’s cricket if needed.
In response to a question from reporters, Bulbul stated:
“Already the board has announced that elections will be held in the first week of October, and we will ensure a proper election process.”
He further clarified: “There is no direct election for the BCB presidency. Elections are held for director positions, and that is my primary target. If I can secure that, I will then try, in whatever way possible, to continue serving Bangladesh.”
Just a day earlier, on Monday (September 1), a board meeting in Sylhet finalized the decision to hold the BCB elections in October, though the exact date has not yet been set.
Bulbul, a former Bangladesh captain, was first elected as a BCB director and later became president through the National Sports Council (NSC). At that time, he had expressed his intention to work with urgency—like a T20 innings—and even indicated that he would not contest for a director’s post again.
However, this time the former skipper has confirmed that he will run directly for a director’s position through votes.
