Taskin, Mehidy yet to apply for NOC

Neither Taskin Ahmed nor Mehidy Hasan have applied to the Bangladesh Cricket Board for the No Objection Certificates for featuring in this season of the county cricket league in England for their respective sides Yorkshire and Warwickshire respective.

According to a Bangladesh Cricket official who spoke seeking anonymity, although they got offer to make their appearances for the respective clubs, but with the forthcoming Afghanistan series and the ICC World Cup in mind, it would be tough decision for the BCB to allow them to participate in the contentions.

‘See, national duty always comes first. So far, we know, Taskin’s matches were scheduled in June and July when he will be occupied with the series against the touring Afghanistan,’ said the official.

‘Therefore, we couldn’t allow him. Moreover, he hasn’t applied for the NOC yet.’

It was learned that Bangladesh’s leading pacer managed the call at Yorkshire through their former pace bowling coach Otis Gibson. However, with the approaching bilateral series and the global event in mind he denied.

Earlier Taskin also refused a proposal of the Gujrat Lions to vie for them in the last edition’s Indian Premier League due to occupation for the South Africa series.

However, the BCB official also affirmed that their off-spinning all-rounder Mehidy Hasan who managed his call-up from Warwickshire, also hasn’t applied for NOC.

He also said, if Mehidy would have applied that would also be a tough call for the BCB to release him with the forthcoming World Cup preparation is looming and Bangladesh would be sweating out for the marquee competition by the time [August] he is scheduled to play the one-day tournament for his side.
