Bangladesh girls thrashed Nepal 4-1 in the SAFF U-17 Championship, thanks to a stunning hat-trick from Saurabi Akanda Prity. The other goal was scored by Thuinuye Marma.
Bangladesh went into the break with a 2-1 lead in the first half before adding two more goals in the second half.
Earlier, in their first meeting of the ongoing double round-robin league on August 24, Bangladesh had beaten Nepal 3-0. This time, they scored one goal more but also conceded once.
Despite dominating, Bangladesh had to wait until the 39th minute to open the scoring. Thuinuye Marma broke the deadlock with a solo effort, dribbling into the box and firing a low angled shot into the net.
Six minutes later, in first-half stoppage time (45+1), Prity netted her first and Bangladesh’s second to extend the lead.
Nepal tried to equalize after the break, but Bangladesh struck again in the 76th minute. From a corner, Prity found space inside the box and calmly slotted the ball home to make it 3-1. Nine minutes later, she completed her hat-trick, stretching the margin to 4-1.
The last twenty minutes of the match were played under rain, but no further goals came, and Bangladesh sealed a convincing 4-1 victory.
Nepal’s only goal came in the 45+3 minute when Bhumika scored, making it 2-1 just before half-time.
With this win, Bangladesh now have 9 points from four matches. To clinch the title, they must beat India in their next match. Earlier in the group stage, Bangladesh had lost to India.
