Dhaka all set to host Teer 24th Asian Archery Championships 2025

Dhaka is set to host Teer 24th Asian Archery Championships 2025, scheduled from November 8-14. A total of 209 Archers from 30 countries will take part in the competition which will feature 10 medal events across Recurve and Compound categories.

Among the participants, 119 are male and 90 are female Archers. Competitors will be accommodated at the Hotel InterContinental, the official hospitality partner of the event.

Alongside the Championships, the World Archery Asia Congress 2025 & Elections will also take place in Dhaka on November 8. Representatives from 32 countries will attend the congress, where Mr. Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapol, Member of the Bangladesh Archery Federation and First (Senior) Vice-President of World Archery Asia, is contesting for the position of President.

A press conference was held on November 4, Tuesday, at the Hotel InterContinental, where details of the Championships and the Congress were shared. Dr. Md. Mokhles Ur Rahman, President of the Bangladesh Archery Federation and Senior Secretary, Tanvir Ahmed, General Secretary, Mr. Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapol, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, and Mr. Zafar Uddin Siddique, Executive Director (Marketing and Sales), City Group. Mr. Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, Managing Director of Hotel InterContinental, also spoke on the occasion.

Dr Md Mokhles Ur Rahman expressed optimism about Bangladesh’s growing role in international Archery. He said, “If Mr. Chapol is elected President, Asian Archery headquarters will move from South Korea to Bangladesh for the next four years. We are hopeful and request everyone to keep us in their prayers.”

He further added, “This time, countries like Palestine, Lebanon, Syria as well as India, Pakistan, Nepal, and Afghanistan are participating. We are grateful to the government for their strong financial support this year and to our sponsors for standing beside us. Bangladesh won the hosting rights for this Championship by beating China in the bidding process.”

Mr. Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapol shared the challenges and achievements behind organising the event. “We are making special arrangements to bring delegations from Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen through Visa On Arrival (VOA) and special incentives. When we bid for the event in Bangkok in 2023, our competitors were India and China. India withdrew, and despite China being a strong contender, we won by 14–10 votes,” he said.

Speaking about his candidacy for the Asian Archery Presidency, Mr. Chapol stated, “At everyone’s request, I am running for the position. Previously, I was elected as Vice President with the highest votes. With your prayers and support, I hope to lead Asian Archery as President.”

He also added that this year’s Championships will feature many Olympians and that he expects a very competitive Championships at the field of Banlga. He shared his confidence that the local Archers would do well on home venue.

General Secretary Tanvir Ahmed said, “An event of this magnitude has never been held in Bangladesh before. It is a moment of pride for our country. We thank the government and City Group for their continuous support, both financially and technically. Hotel InterContinental is our hospitality partner for this event and we are grateful for their cooperation.”

Mr. Zafar Uddin Siddique from City Group remarked, “It is inspiring to see Bangladesh steadily progressing in international Archery. We believe our Archers will continue to rise and make the nation proud under the ‘Teer Go for Gold’ initiative. City Group has been supporting Archery since 2017, and we look forward to continuing this partnership to make Archery a nationwide celebration.”

Mr. Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, Managing Director of Hotel InterContinental, said, “We are honoured to partner with the Bangladesh Archery Federation as the hospitality partner for this prestigious event.
