West Indies became the first team in the cricket history to bowl with the spinners in full 50 overs of an ODI game.

The unique record was created at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium during West Indies' second ODI against Bangladesh.

No team in the 54 years of history bowled with the spinners in full 50 overs earlier.

West Indies' didn't allow their only pacer Justin Greaves to bowl in this match today, however, Greaves is basically a bowling allrounder. They didn't have any genuine pacer to their playing XI today which indicated that they may go with full 50 overs of spin. And it became true finally.

The previous record for bowling the most overs by spinners in an innings in ODIs was held by Sri Lanka when their tweakers bowled 44 overs in an innings and that too in three times.

The Caribbean side, once prominent for his deadly fast bowling attack, broke that record and set a new record today. And it's a record which has no chance of being broken... Such a record is only possible to touch because 50 overs are allotted for an ODI game.

Oman previously held the record for bowling the most overs without giving the ball to the pacers in ODIs. This year, Oman bowled the United States of America (USA) out in 35.3 overs. Oman spinners bowled all those overs.

The West Indies had previously bowled 34 overs by spinners, the most for them in an ODI match against South Africa in Grenada in 2001.

The Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium earlier saw 40 overs from the spinners during Bangladesh's game against West Indies in 2012.

The record for bowling with spinners could have broken today had Bangladesh spinners bowled till 28.3 overs. But Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman came into attack after eight overs, making the first pacer bowling after 58 overs in the match.

The highest number of overs bowled by spinners in an ODI match is 78.2, a record that was seen in the Afghanistan-Ireland match in Dehradun in 2019.

The Irish spinners bowled 39 and the Afghan spinners bowled 39.2 overs that day.
