The International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued a clarification regarding the recent visit of its delegation to Bangladesh, emphasizing that the mission was aimed at engaging with stakeholders on governance and electoral matters concerning the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
In a statement released on Thursday, the ICC said a two-member delegation comprising ICC Board Directors Dr Mohammed A.S. Moosajee of Cricket South Africa and Tavengwa Mukuhlani of Zimbabwe Cricket visited Bangladesh to review developments related to the BCB.
According to the ICC, the delegation met with a range of stakeholders during the visit as part of its efforts to gather information and assess the current situation surrounding governance and electoral issues within Bangladesh cricket.
The global governing body also addressed media speculation surrounding the visit, stating that the delegation would submit its findings and observations to the ICC Board in due course and would not be making any public comments on the matter.
“The ICC wishes to clarify that the delegation will submit its findings and observations to the ICC Board in due course and will not be making any media comment on the matter,” the statement said.
The ICC further noted that any media reports, commentary, or claims regarding the purpose or outcome of the visit are speculative and do not represent the ICC’s official position.
The clarification comes amid widespread discussion over the delegation’s meetings with various stakeholders, including former elected BCB directors. However, the ICC statement did not disclose any details of the discussions or indicate any conclusions reached during the visit.
The findings of the delegation are expected to be presented to the ICC Board at a later date.
