The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20 International series against Zimbabwe, featuring several surprise selections. Mosaddek Hossain Saikat and Yasir Ali have returned to the national side, while Towhid Hridoy has been appointed captain in the absence of regular skipper Litton Das, who is on leave. Shamim Hossain Patwari has been left out of the squad.
The BCB confirmed the squad in a press release on Wednesday (July 1). Bangladesh will tour Zimbabwe for a three-match T20I series following the conclusion of the one-off Test.
The squad includes three opening batters — Parvez Hossain Emon, Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Mohammad Saif Hasan. In the middle order, captain Towhid Hridoy will be joined by Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Yasir Ali Chowdhury and wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan Sohan.
The spin and all-round department features Sheikh Mehedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Rishad Hossain and Abdul Gaffar Saqlain. The pace attack will be led by Mustafizur Rahman, alongside Shoriful Islam, Nahid Rana and Mohammad Saifuddin.
All three T20Is will be played at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo on July 15, 17 and 18. Each match is scheduled to begin at 4:30 PM Bangladesh time.
Bangladesh head into the T20I series after suffering a disappointing defeat in the one-off Test against Zimbabwe, losing by an innings and 85 runs. The visitors will now look to bounce back in the shorter format.
