Bangladesh End Zimbabwe Tour on a High with T20I Series Victory

Despite losing the Test and ODI series, Bangladesh finished their tour of Zimbabwe on a winning note by clinching the three-match T20I series.

The Tigers defeated the hosts by four wickets in the series-deciding third and final T20I to seal a 2-1 series triumph.

Bangladesh had suffered a 32-run defeat in the opening match but bounced back strongly with a 34-run victory in the second game to level the series. Earlier on the tour, they lost the one-off Test 1-0 and the three-match ODI series 2-1 to Zimbabwe.

This marked Bangladesh's second-ever T20I series win on Zimbabwean soil. Before this, the Tigers had experienced one drawn series and one series defeat in Zimbabwe. Their first T20I series victory in the country came in 2021, when they also won the three-match series 2-1.

It was Bangladesh's first series victory of the year after failing to win their previous two home T20I series. They shared the series 1-1 against New Zealand before being whitewashed 3-0 by Australia.

In the series decider at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo on Saturday (July 19), Zimbabwe elected to bat first after winning the toss and posted 143 for 7.

Bangladesh's bowlers and fielders produced an outstanding finish, conceding just 16 runs while claiming four wickets in the final three overs.

Mohammad Saifuddin was the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 35, while Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain and Saklain Sajib chipped in with one wicket each.

Chasing 144 for victory, Bangladesh reached the target with two balls to spare, winning by four wickets. Opener Tanzid Hasan starred with the bat, smashing 66 off 58 deliveries, including one four and four sixes.

His match-winning knock earned him the Player of the Match award and guided Bangladesh to a memorable series victory.
