The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), led by president Tamim Iqbal, has officially moved away from its three-captain structure, introducing a two-captain system across international cricket.
Under the new leadership model, Litton Kumar Das will captain Bangladesh in both One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Litton had already been serving as the T20I captain, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz was previously in charge of the ODI side.
Najmul Hossain Shanto will continue as the captain of the Bangladesh Test team, retaining leadership in the longest format of the game.
The BCB has also confirmed that Towhid Hridoy will serve as vice-captain for both the ODI and T20I teams. No vice-captain has been appointed for the Test side.
BCB President Tamim Iqbal announced the leadership changes during a press conference following the board meeting on Wednesday (July 29).
The decision marks the end of Bangladesh's three-captain approach, with the board opting for separate leadership in red-ball and white-ball cricket as it looks to establish greater continuity and stability across formats.
