Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan Mahmud has been nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for August following his outstanding performance during Bangladesh’s historic Test victory over Australia.
Hasan will compete with Sri Lanka’s Sonal Dinusha and England’s Ollie Robinson for the award.
The pacer was instrumental in Bangladesh’s nine-wicket win in the first Test in Darwin, taking 6-55 in the first innings and 3-56 in the second to finish with a match haul of 9-111. The victory gave Bangladesh their first Test win on Australian soil in 23 years and a 1-0 lead in the series.
Although Australia won the second Test in Mackay to level the series 1-1, Hasan’s performance earned him a place among the three nominees. He finished the month with nine wickets at an average of 19.77 and climbed 26 places to 38th in the ICC Test bowling rankings.
Sri Lanka’s Dinusha amassed 420 runs in the month, including two centuries, while England’s Robinson claimed 16 wickets at an average of 7.18 in the Test series against Pakistan.
The ICC will announce the winner of the award after the voting process.
