Bangladesh Women Name 16-Member Squad for Australia Tour

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 16-member squad for the women’s team’s three-match ODI series against Australia, with Nigar Sultana Joty retaining the captaincy.

The tour will also mark the beginning of David Hemp’s tenure as the new head coach of the Bangladesh women’s national team. Hemp has been appointed initially for a two-year term, until September 2028.

Joty recently stepped down as Bangladesh’s T20I captain but expressed her desire to continue leading the ODI side. She will therefore captain Bangladesh during the Australia tour.

Bangladesh will leave for Australia on October 3 and play a practice match against Queensland on October 6 after arriving in Brisbane. The three ODIs will be played on October 9, 11 and 14, with all matches scheduled at Allan Border Field in Brisbane.

The team will return home on October 15. The tour will be Bangladesh women’s first-ever visit to Australia. A planned T20I series against the hosts has been cancelled.

Hemp, 55, will join the Bangladesh squad in Brisbane ahead of the ODI series against Australia. The former coach will begin his tenure with the national women’s team during the tour.
