Brazil cruise past Haiti for first World Cup win

Brazil claimed their first victory of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a convincing 3-0 win over Haiti, with all three goals coming in the first half. Matheus Cunha struck twice while Vinicius Junior added the third as the five-time champions moved to the top of Group C.

After opening their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Morocco, Carlo Ancelotti's side now have four points from two matches and lead the group on goal difference.

Playing in Philadelphia on Friday (Saturday morning Bangladesh time), Brazil dominated from the outset and took the lead in the 23rd minute when Matheus Cunha found the net. The striker doubled the advantage 13 minutes later, putting the South Americans firmly in control at 2-0.

Vinicius Junior added Brazil's third goal in first-half stoppage time (45+3), ensuring the Selecao headed into the break with a comfortable three-goal cushion.

Despite creating several chances after the restart, Brazil were unable to add to their tally. Gabriel Martinelli came close in the 68th minute, but his effort struck the crossbar.

Ten minutes later, Endrick thought he had scored and celebrated in style, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.

Brazil enjoyed 57 percent possession and completed 533 passes with an 89 percent accuracy rate. Haiti managed 387 passes with an 84 percent success rate.

The Brazilians registered nine shots, five of which were on target, while Haiti had eight attempts and four on target. A total of 27 fouls were committed in the match, with Brazil responsible for 13 and Haiti 14. Brazil received one yellow card, while Haiti were shown three.

With one win and one draw from two matches, Brazil sit atop Group C with four points. Morocco are second on the same number of points, Scotland are third with three points, and Haiti remain bottom without a point after two consecutive defeats.
