Brazil Propose Friendly Match Against Bangladesh in Dhaka in October

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has proposed playing a friendly match against Bangladesh at the National Stadium in Dhaka. The five-time world champions are interested in travelling to Dhaka and facing Bangladesh after their FIFA international window commitments.

If everything goes according to plan, the Bangladesh-Brazil friendly could be held in the first week of October. According to a report by Prothom Alo, citing sources within the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), Brazil have proposed October 5 or 6 as possible dates for the match.

The September FIFA international window will end on October 6. Brazil have reportedly proposed playing Bangladesh in Dhaka within that period.

On Sunday (August 23), a five-member delegation from Brazil unexpectedly visited the National Stadium in Dhaka. The delegation inspected various parts of the venue, including the pitch, dressing rooms, stands and press box.

Initially, it was understood that the Brazilian national team might use Bangladesh as a training base while visiting India for a friendly match. The delegation’s visit to Dhaka was believed to be related to that possibility. However, after inspecting the facilities, the Brazilian representatives also expressed interest in playing against Bangladesh, featuring players such as Hamza Choudhury and Jamal Bhuyan.

Brazil are scheduled to play a friendly against India in Kolkata on October 3. If all arrangements are finalized, Brazil could travel to Dhaka after the match against India to face Bangladesh.

The National Stadium in Dhaka previously hosted a high-profile international match involving Argentina in 2011. On September 6 that year, Lionel Messi and Argentina defeated Nigeria 3-1 at the same venue.

This time, however, football fans in Bangladesh could have the opportunity to see Brazil themselves take on the hosts on home soil.
