Nurul, Saif return to Bangladesh squad for Asia Cup; Miraz left out

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup T20 tournament, recalling Nurul Hasan Sohan and Saif Hasan. All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has not been included in the main squad and has been placed on the standby list.

Before the Asia Cup, Bangladesh will play a three-match T20 series at home against the Netherlands with this squad.

Wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan returns to the T20I side after more than two and a half years. He last featured for Bangladesh in the format during the 2022 T20 World Cup against Pakistan in Adelaide. Since making his debut in January 2016, Nurul has played 46 T20Is, scoring 445 runs at an average of 16.48.

Batting all-rounder Saif Hasan made his T20I debut against Pakistan in Mirpur in January 2021, but after playing just one more game, he was dropped from the side. In October 2023, he captained Bangladesh at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. He now makes his return to the national team through the Asia Cup.

From the squad that faced Pakistan most recently, Mohammad Naim Sheikh has been dropped alongside Miraz.
