India retained their Asia Cup crown with a thrilling five-wicket win over arch-rivals Pakistan in the final in Dubai on Sunday, clinching their ninth title overall.
Batting first, Pakistan were bowled out for 146 in 19.1 overs despite opener Farhan’s 57 off 38 balls. After a solid opening stand of 84 with Fakhar Zaman, Pakistan collapsed spectacularly, losing nine wickets for just 33 runs as Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy and Jasprit Bumrah ripped through the lineup.
Chasing 147, India stumbled early to 20/3, with Faheem Ashraf removing both openers and Shaheen Afridi dismissing captain Suryakumar Yadav cheaply. But Tilak Varma (69 off 53)* and Shivam Dube (33 off 22) rebuilt the innings with a crucial partnership.
In the final over, with 10 needed, Tilak’s six and Rinku Singh’s boundary sealed victory with two balls to spare.
India lifted their second consec.
