BCB Rejects ICC Ultimatum Reports on T20 World Cup 2026

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has dismissed media reports claiming that it was issued an ultimatum by the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding Bangladesh’s participation in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India.

In a media release on Wednesday, the BCB confirmed that it has received a formal response from the ICC following the Board’s concerns over the safety and security of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team during the tournament, along with a request to consider relocating Bangladesh’s matches.

According to the BCB, the ICC has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the full and uninterrupted participation of Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup 2026. The global governing body has also expressed its willingness to work closely with the BCB to address the concerns raised and assured that Bangladesh’s inputs will be welcomed and duly considered as part of the tournament’s detailed security planning.

“The Board has taken note of certain reports published in a section of the media suggesting that the BCB has been issued an ultimatum in this regard,” the statement said.

“The BCB categorically states that such claims are completely false, unfounded and do not reflect the nature or content of the communication received from the ICC.”

The BCB emphasized that it will continue constructive and professional engagement with the ICC and relevant event authorities to reach a practical and amicable solution that ensures Bangladesh’s smooth participation in the global event.

Reaffirming its stance, the Board stated that the safety, security and overall well-being of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team remain its highest priority as preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 continue.
