Fast bowlers fire Bangladesh to overwhelming victory

Bangladesh fast bowlers led by young prodigy Hasan Mahmud came all guns blazing to demolish Ireland by 10 wickets in the third and final ODI and took the series 2-0 comfortably at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

The Bangladesh pacers for the first time in its history took all the 10 wickets of the opponents as Ireland, which opted to bat first, were shot out for 101 in 28.1 overs.

Bangladesh knocked off the target effortlessly, reaching 102 for no loss in just 13.1 overs. Liton Das smashed 50 off 38 that included 10 fours and Skipper Tamim Iqbal, who hit the winning single made run-a-ball-41, hitting five fours and two sixes.

The hosts won the first match by 183 runs for its largest ever victory before the second game in which they put up their ODI highest 349-6 was washed out.

While 10-wicket victory in third game itself was Bangladesh's biggest ever victory by wickets and their first instance of beating any team by all wickets, the Tigers also created some records on the way to their remarkable victory.

It was the third-highest win by run rate among all successful chases, Among overs taken to win while chasing, this is the second lowest.

Young prodigy Hasan Mahmud led the charge, showing an emphatic performance that saw him returning figures of 5-32, his career-best and first five-for in his small career.

Taskin Ahmed claimed 3-36 and Ebadot Hossain snapped up 2-29 to play a perfect foil to Hasan.
Bangladeshi pacers earlier on multiple occasion took highest eight wickets of the opponents with the last instance came against Pakistan at Lord's during the 2019 World Cup.

After electing to bat first in the overcast condition, Ireland batter looked clueless against the Bangladesh pacers and surrendered literally without any resistance.

Only two batters of Ireland could reach double digit mark with Curtis Campher making highest 36 and Lorcan Tucker adding 28.

Hasan ran through Ireland top order with a gem of pace bowling and left them 22-3 before Taskin Ahmed got into act.

Taskin had Irish skipper Andrew Balbirnie caught by Najmul Hossain Shanto at the first slip for 6 to open his tally.

But Lorcan Tucker and Curtis Campher made a little resistance. They looked fine until Ebadot Hossain intervened.

Ebadot had Tucker leg-before for 28, bringing an end of the 42-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

Campher remained unfazed even though Ebadot and Taskin kept making inroads.

However Hasan came back to his second spell to end Campher's resistance as the batter was caught by Taskin at deep fine leg after trying to pull a slower delivery. He sent the ball across the rope for four times.

Matthew Humphreys then hit Hasan a boundary as Ireland reached three-figure mark.

But the young sensation came back strongly again to trap Graham Hume leg-before for 3 through video review to complete his five-wicket haul and at the same time bring an end to the Irish innings.
