Bangladesh secured their first win in men’s hockey at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, with a convincing 5-1 victory over Sri Lanka.

The Jimmy-Amirul-led side dominated from the start and took the lead in the opening quarter through Amirul Islam. Bangladesh added another goal in the second quarter to take control of the match.

Amirul Islam and Ashraful Islam scored twice each for Bangladesh, while Mahbub Hossain added one goal.

Bangladesh kept Sri Lanka’s defence under constant pressure, earning more than 15 penalty corners throughout the match.

Sri Lanka managed to pull one goal back through Kushal, but it was not enough to prevent Bangladesh from securing a comfortable victory.
