Bangladesh national cricket team produced a dominant all-round display to defeat New Zealand national cricket team by 55 runs in the third ODI, clinching the three-match series 2-1 at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium on Thursday.
After losing the opener, Bangladesh bounced back strongly to secure their third consecutive ODI series win, following triumphs over West Indies and Pakistan.
Najmul Hossain Shanto led the charge with a superb 105 off 119 balls, sharing a crucial 160-run stand with Liton Das (76 off 91) after the hosts slipped to 32-3. Their partnership laid the foundation for a competitive 265-8.
In reply, New Zealand were bowled out for 210 in 44.5 overs despite a fighting 75 from Dean Foxcroft. Mustafizur Rahman starred with the ball, claiming 5-43—his sixth ODI five-wicket haul—while Nahid Rana supported well with 2-37.
Earlier, Will O'Rourke (3-32) had reduced Bangladesh to early trouble, but Shanto’s composed century and Liton’s timely return to form turned the game around.
The teams will now face off in a three-match T20I series starting April 27 at the same venue.
