Bangladesh Lose to Singapore 1-0, Exit FIFA ASEAN Cup

Bangladesh suffered a 1-0 defeat to Singapore in a crucial Group A match of the FIFA ASEAN Cup on Monday, ending their campaign at the group stage after two consecutive losses.

The match was played at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia. Bangladesh had earlier begun their campaign with a 3-0 defeat to Malaysia and now sit at the bottom of the group without a point from two matches.

Singapore took the lead in the 35th minute. Nuur Abdullah delivered a cross from the left, which Hariss Stewart headed into the net to put Singapore ahead.

Singapore dominated the first half, registering five shots, four of which were on target. Bangladesh, meanwhile, failed to record a single shot before the break.

Bangladesh came out with greater urgency in the second half and pushed hard for an equaliser. Jamal Bhuiyan and his teammates continued to search for a goal until the final whistle, but could not find a way past the Singapore defence.

Singapore also failed to add to their tally after the break, but their first-half goal was enough to secure a 1-0 victory.

Bangladesh head coach Thomas Dooley made four changes to the starting XI from the previous match. The changes helped Bangladesh produce a more competitive performance, but they were unable to convert their opportunities into an equaliser.
