Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) has appointed midfielder Roman Sarkar as captain of the Bangladesh national hockey team for the upcoming Asian Games, with defender Amirul Islam named vice-captain.

The federation announced the new leadership structure in a press release on Friday (September 4), expressing confidence in the duo ahead of Bangladesh’s Asian Games campaign.

Roman and Amirul are expected to lead the team from the front as Bangladesh continues its preparations for the continental competition.

Amirul recently produced a standout performance in Bangladesh’s opening preparation match against Tianjin Province, scoring a hat-trick in a convincing 4-0 victory. Sohanur Rahman Sabuj scored the other goal for Bangladesh.

Bangladesh will play their second warm-up match against the China national hockey team on Saturday at the Tianjin Jinghai District Tuanbo Sport Center.
